WIPA Seattle Launch

This past November WIPA Seattle held their launch event at The Foundry by Herban Feast and we were thrilled to be a part of the team who brought WIPA to Seattle!

Over the years, I have continued to ensure that, as a business owner, I stay on top of continuing education and trends through both local and national outlets. The last few years I’ve had this nagging feeling that Seattle was missing something. While we have fantastic associations to be a part of already, some I have even been a large part of, I felt that a strong educational association targeting those seasoned pros in the Seattle Wedding Industry was missing. We were absent of something that was tailored to us, the “senior” crowd, as well as the inspiration that I was craving.

I was mentioning this feeling to other wedding professionals while attending educational events around the country. Over and over there was a strong recommendation to bring this association to our area and start a new Chapter. After being introduced to the Board of Directors and Advisors winter of 2018 the ball began to roll. In spring of 2019 the President of this association came out to Seattle for a focus group to gauge interest which culminated in our November 2019 launch.

The mission of this association and our new Chapter is to provide industry-leading education for our members, produce inspirational networking events and advance the ethical standards of the wedding industry. I believe that with the caliber of our local industry our new Chapter can have a strong presence in our area.

Over the years I’ve discovered that the best way to accomplish anything is to surround myself with a team who will inspire, elevate and push you to do greater things. When selecting the seven other Board Members for this new Chapter I specifically chose individuals who I felt represented the wide range and opinions of our industry. These individuals not only go above and beyond daily in their businesses but they represent the spirit of this organization. Each Board Member continues to educate, inspire and elevate the industry for all of us.

Our launch event was a team effort that I am truly proud of and it set the bar for the years ahead. I chose to focus the theme of this event around the season and partnered with vendors who I knew would pull together my vision of Fall abundance and also push the creative envelope. The design of the stage in the presentation room was a favorite that included draping, lit backdrops, floral and soft seating. Soft seating featured a mix of almond colored sofas and vibrant yellow suede chairs and sofas. Soft colorful ottomans in apricot, willow green, and sunflower completed the seating. The signage, event programs and other collateral we designed for this event all ensured attendees were well informed and reflected the theme.

My hope is that our members find value in our new Chapter and take the opportunity to create those connections that will propel their business further and inspire everyone in our industry to raise the bar.

As guests arrived, cocktail hour began. Tray-passed appetizers inspired by our color palette for the program, weaved the harvest colors and flavors of fall. Passed appetizers featured a velvety vegan coconut and carrot soup with a slightly spicy minted sambal; a paella bite, comprised of garlic shrimp, crispy saffron rice cake and topped with a lemon aioli; a clever take on bagels and lox with a pickled cucumber cup standing in for the bagel, filled with smoked salmon rillette and sprinkled with everything bagel spice; and a winter squash flatbread, topped with onion soubise, pecorino and cranberry relish were served. In addition to the passed hors d’oeuvres, guests were invited to experience an interactive crostini station at which guests customized bites, and got to pair them with a specialty flavored seltzer from San Juan Seltzer.

After cocktail hour guests moved into an adjacent room for the main program. Following a warm welcome by the WIPA Seattle Board, the program turned to a presentation by Pauline Parry, a founding member and former president of WIPA International, designed to inspire event attendees on the power of our new Chapter. The keynote speaker, Andy Maurer, finished the formal program with a focus on the mental and physical well-being of our industry.

After the presentation and speakers, the barn doors were once again opened to reveal the transformed networking area. Several food stations, including a lucite tower filled with small plates, were featured, along with a dessert station that was paired with local hard seltzers.

Herban Feast presented two options of small stacked plates, a seasonally fall take on a burrata salad with radicchio-balsamic jam, pickled butternut squash and crisped focaccia. The vegan, gluten and dairy free option featured roasted delicata squash and cauliflower small plate with pomegranate seeds to integrate the pops of red from the tray passed items, and a tahini drizzle for a bit of richness. Finally, for those who were looking for something heartier, the Executive chef served a boneless Korean-inspired short rib or soy-marinated mushroom on scallion mash with a house-made daikon kimchi.

Sweet treats rounded out the menu with a clever take on a harvest season’s caramel apple, with a salted caramel panna cotta topped with green apple gelee, their signature and eminently craveable house made gluten free ding dongs, and housemade lemon sorbet, offered solo or as a float with huckleberry seltzer.

And not to miss all the fun that was had in the 321 FOTO | photo booth rentals Revolution Booth which was onsite at our launch event!

Greg’s Celebration of Life

This February was bittersweet as we helped celebrate the life of a former Groom and client at Wisteria Hall, located within the Washington Park Arboretum. Working with his wife, we incorporated Greg’s love of the outdoors, fresh floral, his favorite colors of orange and blue and most importantly those who loved him most.

Greg was loving, generous, gentle and kind. He loved to treat his family to Hawaii, sandy beaches, and the mountains for skiing, hiking, snow-shoeing and snowball fights. Gratitude was his compass. He had a deep passion and respect for nature and the outdoors. Greg connected with people in need. He was profoundly aware of the world and politics. He could quote any piece of Shakespearean work. He loved to sing and dance. Favorite music artists: David Bowie and Stevie Wonder. A kid at heart, he enjoyed silly puns and jokes, waterslides, super-soakers, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (peanut butter cups too), and a game of Monkey in the Middle. He was an avid gardener and never far from a fresh bouquet of flowers.

As guests arrived they wrote their favorite memories of Greg on a Memory Tree and were handed a seeded-paper program that could later be planted in the garden where wildflowers would soon grow. Tray passed peanut butter and jelly sandwiches were enjoyed.

Finding comfort in sharing stories of Greg, friends and family gathered around lounge furniture and tables covered in charcoal and navy linens as tears and laughter were shared. Lush floral arrangements filled the room in orange, blue, green and white floral.

Soon a buffet of savory and sweet items, including a few of Greg’s favorites, was open. At the end of the evening loved ones were sent home with evergreen seedlings that would be planted in his memory.

“Hi BreeAnn. I keep meaning to sit down and reply to your email and let you know how much I loved the celebration. It turned out so well. I really couldn’t have asked for it to go better. Your venue and your vendors were great, but someone had to have the ideas, put it all together to make it work and add all the special touches. I am so grateful for all you did and your expertise.  I shudder at the thought of how it would have turned out if I’d planned it myself. Thank you so much for making a very sad event so nice.” ~ April

Sahaee’s Hot Air Balloon Themed 1st Birthday Party at The Golf Club at Newcastle

With two months to plan Sahaee’s Hot Air Balloon themed 1st Birthday I discovered finding a balloon company during fall as well as a venue that suited my client’s vision proved a challenge. Yet this October my clients stood in front of an inflated balloon celebrating one unforgettable 1st Birthday at The Golf Club at Newcastle.

Face painting, coloring and a personalized painting activity for kids; a raffle drawing and cake decorating competition for adults; mouthwatering food stations from John Howie Catering including a gourmet mac ‘n cheese station, soup and grilled cheese station and a roasted chicken station inspired by their travels to Paris. And not to miss endless deserts, favors and tethered balloon rides under blue skies.

As guests arrived that late morning they left their thumbprint on the Hot Air Balloon guestbook and caught up on Sahaee’s milestones as she celebrates one year!

One of our favorite areas in the room was the seating vignette incorporating the Bella Pink Couch and Odette Chairs from Vintage Ambiance. Overhead metal hot air balloons with arrangements of soft blooms in the baskets hung above lounge area. Yarn wrapped letters spelling out the birthday girls name finished off the vignette.

Shantung blush linens and vineyard chairs surrounded dining tables dispersed around the room. Wood boxes filled with white hydrangeas, pink majolica spray roses, quicksand roses and cafe au lait dahlias were topped with metal globes and ribbons to mimic the look of a hot air balloon and made for the perfect centerpiece. Each table featured a picture of the birthday girl ranging from months one through twelve and a bit about her at that age.

While kids enjoyed one of the many activities or grabbed a bit from the kids buffet (fruit skewers, yogurt parfaits and beef meatballs), adults enjoyed a mimosa and nibbled on tray passed appetizers from John Howie Catering. Cheese stuffed red potatoes, pastry cups with roasted vegetables, American wagyu beef meatballs and mushroom stuffed filo crisps were well received!

With guests seated and a warm welcome from the hosts, a raffle drawing was held (winner received a $25 Amazon gift card) and the food stations were open!

A soup and grilled cheese station included a choice of roasted heirloom tomato-basil soup or porcini mushroom soup with black truffle creme. Toasted cheese sandwiches of cheddar on challah bread or a fontina & pesto on hearty Italian. Yum!

A mac ‘n cheese station allowed guests to customize their mac ‘n cheese with topping choices of bacon, caramelized onions, roasted tomatoes, mushrooms and zucchini.

Another station, a favorite of the hosts, featured fresh organic whole roasted chickens carved to order with sides of Yukon Gold mashed potatoes and gravy and grilled asparagus with a Meyer Lemon vinaigrette. Yum!

With bellies full, a cake decorating competition was rolled out! Teams of 8-10 were given a 6″ plain cake set on a disposable cake board; decorating tools, a spinning cake stand, sprinkles, writing gels, a container of white buttercream and three individual piping bags filled with colorful buttercream (pastel/dusty pink, purple and yellow) to create the hot air balloon designs. With the start of the timer friends and family had 10 mins to create a Hot Air Balloon inspired cake. The party hosts were given the task of deciding who the winning team was. The best cake designing team received a $10 Starbucks gift card for each person on the team. What fun!

The moment everyone was waiting for soon came as a round of Happy Birthday and a vanilla velvet smash cake was presented to Sahaee! The exterior finish of the smash cake was a smooth white Swiss meringue buttercream with a hand cut sugar paste balloon and a gold “1” topper.

It was now time for dessert for everyone! Three incredible cakes from Honey Crumb Cake Studio were a highlight. The focal cake, a three tiered cake (looked like a tall two-tiered cake), was a velveteen carrot and a toffee vanilla latte cake. The exterior of the cakes top tier was a smooth white Swiss meringue buttercream with gold gold lettering. The base tier was covered in a thin dusty pale aqua fondant with a hand painted abstract cloud design inspired by the party invitations. 2-D hand cut sugar hot air balloons, in dusty pink, pale dusty pink, rich aqua, dusty golden yellow, and dusty mint green were adorned to the cake. Stunning!

A kids cake of dark chocolate cake with milk chocolate Swiss meringue buttercream filling featured an exterior of smooth Swiss meringue buttercream tinted dusty pink, to match invitations, with vertical pinstripes in a darker dusty pink color.

A smaller 5″ GF chocolate cake with espresso buttercream filling and a smooth Swiss meringue buttercream with a gradient coloring was also on display.

Since you can never have enough desserts, a complete dessert buffet included hot air balloon cookies, creme puffs, mini apple pies, mini blackberry pies, banana pudding cups and to honor the birth of daughters everywhere Pink Ladoos.

With the weather uncertain that day, we gave guests a few minutes to grab a dessert as we ushered the family outside for family photos underneath the inflated balloon before inviting friends and family outside for the big surprise. With jaws opened wide guests gathered around for a group photo, thanks to both Kirsten Honeycutt Photographer and the aerial photographer before taking turns riding in the hot air balloon.

While friends and family took turns taking tethered hot air balloon rides Street Treats was on hand serving made to order ice cream sandwiches! The combinations were endless with multiple choices of ice cream (vanilla, chocolate, coffee and toasted coconut and a strawberry sorbet) and cookies (chocolate chip, peanut butter, oatmeal cranberry and funfetti).

As loved ones said their goodbyes a personalized gift went home with each kid. Personalized canvas totes filled with books, personalized pencils and a few other goodies to enjoy. Each family was also gifted a board game to play when they got back home from the birthday girl!

Thrilled to have been able to plan and design not only Sahaee’s 1st Birthday Party but a few years ago her sister Daiya’s 1st Birthday too!

Family Reunion at The Resort at Port Ludlow

This August we had the honor of planning a family reunion at The Resort at Port Ludlow for one lucky family. We were involved in all the details from the selection of the hotel to assigning rooms and activities to the design throughout the weekend. With the hotel bought out for the weekend guests arrived Friday afternoon and checked into their rooms where a Welcome Bag filed with local goodies and a Welcome Packet noting the activities ahead were waiting. Kids reunited in the Kids Room where they had their own kids buffet and all the fixings for a movie night. Adults caught up over welcome cocktails and live music followed by the most delicious family style dinner that left each guest knowing that this would be a weekend to remember!
Saturday morning a few family members enjoyed a round of golf at the Port Ludlow Golf Course while most were chauffeured to Port Townsend for a private Whale Watching Charter where they saw humpback whales, seals, birds and more! Saturday afternoon was spent relaxing at the Resort or taking a spin around the Marina in a kayak or on a stand up paddleboard prior to the night’s Salmon Potlatch Dinner which was the main event of the weekend.

Cindy Marie Photography captured all the fun that evening as the night kicked off with live music, lawn games, snaps in the photo booth, a group photo with Port Ludlow Marina as the backdrop, a traditional Salmon Potlatch Dinner finished with ice cream sundaes and cookies. Not to miss s’mores around the fire at the Marina.

Sunday morning family members said their goodbyes and made plans for more frequent get together as they enjoyed one last farewell brunch.

Safran Laboratory Corporate Grand Opening

As Safran Electrical & Power was in final staging of construction of their new lab in Everett, they reached out to Pink Blossom Events to start planning the details of their Laboratory Grand Opening. Pulling in the colors of their company and a touch of the northwest we created an event highlighting the Northwest as well as the highlights of the new lab. The event was open to suppliers and Boeing Executives who worked closely with their team making this an occasion to celebrate. On the day of the Grand Opening, Safran Electrical & Power welcomed guests with appetizers, beverages and tours of the new lab. As guests left they were given favors from Welcome Gifts by Pink Blossom Events marking their visit to the lab and all the success to come! Photos by The Fix Photo Group.
